An exceptionally large sarcoma of the thoraco-abdominal wall with ingrowth in the pericardium and stomach: a case report

: A 62-year-old man was referred to our center with a sarcoma of his left chest wall ingrowth into the pericardium and transdiaphragmatically abdomen. The diagnostic delay for patient extensive, at approximately 3.5 years. Judging by tumor size local ingrowth, on first examination, we considered this be borderline resectable. treated induction radiotherapy, resulting in relief pain but no radiological response. He then re-evaluated particular attention paid (peri)cardial involvement. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed heart could move freely, therefore extended resection reconstruction abdominal wall, pericardium, diaphragm performed. combination delay, large size, extensive resection, use nonrigid material make case unique. computed tomography (CT) scan performed 6 weeks postoperatively signs lung metastases, despite “clean” CT taken few days preoperatively. main lessons from are that slow, progressive, painful swelling should never diagnosed as chronic contusion very thoraco-abdominal defect can reconstructed without rigid materials.
